Nabe dinner for New Year 1Jan

New Year is never complete without an enjoyable dinner with family. As Japan shuts down over the New Year, New Year dinner was eaten at home.

Home made dinner was 鍋物 (nabemono) or hot pot dish. Main ingredients consisted mainly of seafood, Chloe's favourites. Special dish was ズワイガニ (Zuwaigani) or spider crab from 北海度 (Hokkaido).

The dashi or stock used was ちゃんこ鍋 (chanko nabe) or sumo-wresler style soup stock.

Here's Chloe with her fukubukuro from Toys R Us.
